Meet: Summer Kozon the owner of My Gym New Tampa

Tell us about yourself / your family.

Hello!  I am originally from Northern Indiana, where my immediate family still resides!  I have been living in Florida since 2006 and LOVE it!  

How did you discover My Gym?

This is probably one of my favorite questions!  I have worked with children for my entire life, mostly starting from many years of cheerleading and coaching.  I was working on my Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology at University of South Florida and I found My Gym as a part time job.  I instantly fell in love with everything about My Gym!  Once my graduation date approached, I sadly was looking for other positions, but then was asked to be brought on as a Director!  Talk about over the moon!  Eleven and a half years went by and sadly Covid-19 closed the gym down as it stood, however I couldn't give up on my dream and all my kiddos!  I was offered to buy the equipment and franchise to eventually reopen...and here we are!  I have dreamed of this for years and am blessed to get to do something I love everyday!  My "My Gym" journey started in February of 2009!

What are your hobbies? How do you and your family like to spend your time?

I have two fur babies, named Maly (Morkie) and a Boxer name Ollie!  When not at My Gym, we love to go to the beach or do anything on the water!  I love to take my Jeep off-road and do different events with our friends!  I love to get my hands on multiple different kinds of art projects and enjoy life to its fullest!   

Share your favorite childhood memory with us.

I grew up on a lake in Indiana, the summers were the BEST!  I would spend all my days outside playing in the water or seeing how many turtles I could catch and release in one day.  

Let’s talk about Lutz/New Tampa/Wesley Chapel! What do you love most about your community?

The sense of community that is in this area is top notch.  Regardless of how fast it is growing it still feels to me like a small town when interacting with the residents!  

What’s the most excited part about bringing My Gym to New Tampa? 

Getting to share the love and happiness My Gym brings to all the children in our area!
